Ph.D. ELIGIBILITY TEST NOTIFICATION – 2020
Applications through online mode are invited for Ph.D. Eligibility Test - 2020 in various subjects under different faculties of Osmania University. The candidates who have passed the Master’s degree in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply. For online application, list of subjects, syllabi of eligibility test, registration fee and other rules and regulations, the candidates are advised to visit the websites: www.osmania.ac.in and www.ouadmissions.com. The online submission of application commences from 2020. The last date is 2020 without fine and 2020 with a fine of Rs.500/-. Note: Candidates with certain other eligibilities are exempted from Ph.D. Eligibility Test.

Rules and Regulations:
The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) shall be conferred by Osmania University in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Management, Education, Law, Social Sciences, Oriental Languages, Science, Technology, Pharmacy, Engineering, Informatics and in such other faculties as may be notified in future, in accordance with the provisions of these rules and regulations in current or amended form, and subject to the conditions laid down herein.
Procedure for admission into Ph.D:
Eligibility Criteria:
In all the Faculties a candidate is eligible for registration/admission into PhD course in a subject, if he/she has obtained a Post-Graduate Degree, from a recognized University or a Post Graduate Degree through Distance mode from a recognized University and approved by the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, in the concerned subject or in an allied subject approved by the Osmania University securing not less than 55% marks at the Post-Graduate Degree and securing not less than 50% marks in the case of SC/ST candidates.
However, the following categories of the candidates are exempted from appearing in the Ph.D. Eligibility test.
i. Those who are awarded research fellowship in a national level test namely UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / ICMR / ICAR / DBT-JRF / INSPIRE fellowship and Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to the clearance by the Dean, CDC, Osmania University.
ii. Those who are qualified UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / APSET / JEST Examination.
iii. Those who hold M.Phil. Degree in regular mode from O.U. in the concerned subject or Ph.D. in an allied subject approved by Osmania University
Note: The eligibility of the candidates is not being verified at the time of application and at the time of issuing of hall tickets. Therefore, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is eligible for the Ph.D. programme in a subject in which he/she is applying.

OU Ph.D. Eligibility Test 2020-18 Paper pattern:
The paper pattern for Osmania University Ph.D. Eligibility Test 2020 is as follows:
➧The eligibility test will be of 90 minutes duration and question paper consists of 100 objective (multiple choice only) type questions.
➧The eligibility test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective type items such as analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study / experiment / theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple choice items. The items will be framed only from the syllabus of eligibility test.
➧Maximum marks for eligibility test: 100 marks.
➧Nature of test: Objective type with multiple choice questions.
➧Medium of eligibility test : The medium of eligibility test will be English only except for language subjects.
